Description: This experience study, from the Society of Actuaries [SOA] ‘Experience Studies – Individual Life,’ was conducted by the SOA’s Individual Life Insurance Experience Committee. This report is on intercompany mortality experience by amount of insurance under standard individually underwritten issues. In previous reports, mortality experience over a single anniversary year was studied. In this report, experience over four individual anniversary-to-anniversary study years is reported with the discussion focusing on trends during this period. This report is expected to appear in a future issue of the Society's TSA Reports. Consists of five pdf documents: a report and four containing tables.

Description: In an increasing population the number of persons falls off from age to age more rapidly than does the stationary population of the life table. This can introduce a systematic bias into life table calculations. The first part of the paper describes an iterative procedure to correct for the bias, extends the method to multiple decrement and associated single decrement life tables, and demonstrates the magnitude of the bias involved. The second part of the paper summarizes the results of applying iterative life table techniques to 165 populations which encompass over a century's experience and include countries from all parts of the world. Description: This report, from the Society of Actuaries [SOA] ‘Experience Studies – Individual Annuities,’ was prepared by the SOA Task Force on Mortality Guarantees in Variable Products. This study of mortality on deferred variable annuities over the period 1991-1995 was designed to test the adequacy of the 1994 MGDB Valuation Mortality Table to cover presumed extra mortality on variable annuities [Vas] with Substantial Minimum Guaranteed Death Benefits [MGDBs] as compared with VAs with Minimal MGDBs. A parallel study of fixed annuity experience was carried out as a control. In addition to report includes a six page document of instructions to participating companies.
